THE PROJECT
The NextDoor Center for the Arts aspires to complete the renovation of the warehouse building at 40 Cross Street with a fully landscaped exterior lobby featuring handicapped access and parking, improved lighting and signage, seasonal plantings and a paved garden of naming bricks to be known as “THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS GARDEN”
THE PROGRESS & PLAN
Initial excavation work was completed in the fall of 2009, generously donated by the Donlon Family and Donlon Construction. Landscape plans were drawn up and donated by Perennial Landscape that feature handicap access and parking as well as a significant increase in our green space and curb appeal. In the spring of 2010 a matching gift of $15,000 was awarded from the Griffin Foundation to support our goal. The goal of matching this gift will be met with the sale of “naming bricks” for the paved area to be known as THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS GARDEN. The opportunity for individuals and organizations to show their support of our dream of a community arts center and become a part of the legacy of this project is available through the purchase of a “brick” during the spring and summer of 2011. We will begin the final phase of installation in the Fall of 2011 and officially open THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS GARDEN on Friday April 20, 2012.

A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDERS & BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dear Friend
In the three short years since its inception, The Nextdoor Center for the Arts has established itself as a "jewel" within the Winchester arts community and beyond, working hard to fulfill its mission of “building community through the arts with education, participation and presentation.
Located at 40 Cross Street in Winchester, MA, The Nextdoor Center for the Arts is committed to providing for the public the best the arts has to offer by staging productions, offering workshops and presenting community events, as well as playing host to various local organizations’ programs.
With founding donations from two long established arts organizations, Kidstock! and Ballet Arts Centre, this non-profit venture quickly succeeded in turning a vacant warehouse into a vibrant Center for the Arts. This intimate performance venue features a 135 seat proscenium theater with state of the art lighting, sound and projection equipment and a lobby that is a dedicated art gallery.
Our current initiative, “Paving the Way for the Arts to Grow”, is a campaign to complete exterior landscape and signage through the sale of “naming bricks” to match a generous $15,000 grant from the Griffin Foundation. Our deadline to receive this grant is June 1, 2011.
Your “gift” of a brick will not only help to beautify the surroundings of the Center and the neighborhood, but will also become part of the legacy supporting the cultural life of our community for many years to come.
Please consider supporting this important cause. By working together, we hope to create a home and future for the arts that is an integral and vital part of the community in which we all live, right “nextdoor”!
